Do You Want To Play?

June 18, 2010

Hello

What am I like …….another post – two in one day!

I have had a lovely day playing with a CD-Rom I bought absolutely years ago, titled ‘Decorative Butterfly Illustrations’ published by Dover. You may find these books in Art Stop and in the Teachers Shop. The collection is easily viewed on the Dover Publications site – Dover Publications.  I do have a few, if you fancy a visit to view.

It has been a lot of trial and error today, playing with photoshop and editing the butterflies to compliment the layout. I have printed them on to acetate and thanks to watching one of Noells’  ‘Paperclipping Members’ videos I have found freedom.

I have  been using a lot of acetate of late and had resorted to positioning embellishments and photographs to anchor it – now I am successfully using ‘Diamond Glaze’  – I am going to have to source some more rather sooner than I thought.

I toyed with using the blue glimmer mist I have and even distressing the edges of the main sheet but that was going to far for me in one day!  I have come to the conclusion that to use glimmer mist you either have to have spare sheets of your chosen paper or simply be very brave and hope for the best. I am told that’s the fun of it…….it comes with practise I suppose – well done those who make it look great.

So, this is the picture of the layout before sticking it all down

Do you do this – it’s a great way to see that there is some balance and things are anchored (yes Noell, I have been watching :) your videos ).  Can the butterflies look like they are floating do you think?

I have some ‘Liquid Pearls’ by Ranger and I am thinking about adding a few drops. I have already added a few drops to the flowers and I had to laugh when I remembered to tap the back of the paper to even out the peeks – I stopped for a fraction thinking – is it all going to go flying – no, it didn’t and it did the job.

The strength of the journaling is giving me some hesitation at the moment; although I don’t want the viewer to be too concerned with what I have to say but appreciate what a beautiful bride Jo was.

So, do you want to play?

What would you do with this layout – stick it or move a few things around/rough up the edges ?

I have used paper from BasicGrey – the Cappella range.

K&Company - Adhesive Pearls

I look forward to your comments and come back to you tomorrow with the finished layout.

Happy Scrapping

    Wow, Christine.
Having seen your papers when you bought them & now seeing the result, your layout is stunning. I don’t think you need to change a thing. The papers are subtle & the butterflies lift the page without distracting from the photos.
I’m sure your friend Jo and her new husband will be thrilled with the result.
